Coperni 3 students see significant academic growth from 2022 to 2023in CMAS testing results

For Immediate Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — The Colorado Department of Education released the 2023 Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) results. Coperni 3 students demonstrated significant academic growth from 2022 to 2023.
Coperni 3 students increased the standardized state testing academic growth performance
indicator by 23.9 percentage points. The overall academic growth for students was 67.1% in
2022, which met the state’s standards. In 2023 academic growth skyrocketed to 95%, securing
57 points out of 60 eligible points and exceeding the state’s rating.

“Coperni 3’s School Performance Framework (SPF) increased by nearly 25 percentage points
from 55.3% in 2021-22 to 79.2% in 2022-23,” said Elizabeth Domangue, Director of Schools –
Colorado. “Not only was there a remarkable increase in the SPF, for Math and ELA grades 3-8,
our minority students and those who are eligible to receive free/reduced-priced meals exceeded
Colorado’s growth model expectations. At Coperni 3, we will continue to focus on providing the
highest quality and most effective instructional practices for all students.”

The growth expectation of students eligible to receive free/reduced-priced meals demonstrates
one of Third Future’s core focuses, closing the achievement gap. Underserved students typically
start behind their peers and need extra support and guidance to reach grade level academic
expectations. Third Future pairs their most experienced and highly effective teachers with
students who are struggling to comprehend the grade level material. This philosophy is known
as the personalized learning model. Personalized learning allows students to see significant
gains in academic growth and achievement.

Coperni 3 uses data every day to drive decisions to improve student’s academic outcomes.
Students are comfortable and confident when it’s time for standardized testing, because this is
part of the Third Future learning model. Assessment data helps teachers and administrators
understand where students may be falling short and how to quickly adjust and help those
students get back on track.
