Third Future Schools Announces Partnership with Louisiana Department of Education to Turnaround Chronically Failing School using Coperni Project Model

For Immediate Release

Baton Rouge, LA – Third Future Schools announces partnership with Louisiana Department of Education to serve Prescott K-8 Academy in Baton Rouge, LA. The school, which was previously known as Prescott Middle School has had a long record of continually underperforming. Louisiana’s Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted unanimously to have Third Future take control of the school through summer 2026.

“We come around today with humility to say that we are turnaround experts and we have done this several times before, but we have no illusions about how tough this is going to be,” Mike Miles, chief executive officer and founder of the Third Future, told BESE members on March 7. “We have to destroy the myth that it takes four or five years to turn around a school,” Miles said. “Our kids don’t have that kind of time.”

Third Future Schools will use their proven innovative model to effectively and efficiently turn around the school and allow the state the option to take back operations of the school after a three-year period. Third Future calls this model the Coperni Project.

Benefits of the Coperni Project:

  • Innovative differentiated instructional model
  • Laser focus on high quality instruction
  • On or above grade level instruction every day
  • Increase academic achievement in one year
  • $83,000 average teacher salary at Prescott
  • 100% staffing all year
  • Student travel opportunities
  • Students offered “Dyad” courses such as piano, photography, martial arts, and dance

By the Year 2030, Third Future Schools will create 100 proof points of a new

education system and inspire transformation of the broader public education system in

order to significantly narrow the achievement gap and prepare students for a Year

2035 workplace and world.
