Shreveport, LA — We are heartbroken by the devastating tragedy that has shaken the Shreveport community and claimed the lives of eight children. Our deepest sorrow is with the families, loved ones, and all those impacted by this unimaginable loss.
We are especially grieving the loss of several students from Linwood Public Charter School. These students were bright, eager learners who were kind, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a helping hand to their teachers and classmates. One additional student remains hospitalized, and we are holding them and their family close in our thoughts as they recover.
“This loss is heartbreaking for our school community,” said Da’Lisa Hatcher, principal of Linwood Public Charter School. “These students brought joy, curiosity, and kindness into our classroom every day. They were the kind of children who looked out for others and made school a better place. We are grieving together, and we will continue to wrap our students, staff, and families in love and support as we move through this unimaginable time.”
In response to this tragedy, we have a team of grief counselors and mental health specialists on campus to support our students, staff, and families. We are working closely with community partners to ensure that everyone affected has access to the care and support they need during this time.
